Kingston DataTraveler Kyson USB Flash Drive - 64GB

The only reason I bought this was because it claimed the fastest write speed advertised of any standard USB-A flash drive: 60MBps write speed.
Real world speed turned out to be 20 - 30 MBps while copying a single 3GB file.
An everyday flash drive such as the DataTraveler G4 achieves 16 - 26 MBps

Speeds are consistently around 115MB/s for the first 1GB and then it drops to a very jerky 30MB/s for the rest of the file.
Note that this is preformatted as FAT32, so there is 4GB file limit. You'll need to reformat this to NTFS or exFAT before you start transferring files if you might find a bunch of them not transferring over.

Build quality is pretty nice being all metal apart from the plastic keyring loop. Would have been nice if that was metal too though as that part of it feels exceptionally flimsy. I've had one of these for about a year and a half now. It lives on my keychain and it's still working to this day despite all the abuse it gets. The speeds are fine for what I need it for, and it can be a little difficult to plug it into certain USB ports. But it comes in clutch whenever I need to flash a Linux .iso or transfer some files from one PC to another. I've had one of these for about a year and a half now. Works as should, I was expecting a milled metal casing, but it's just a thin sheet of metal bended to the shape of a usb.

The default partition for the 64 GB is only 32 GB, meaning when I nearly filled it, I realised I had to reformat and repartition it completely. Considering the nature of its content, I was worried about my work being corrupted by doing so. It should be set up correctly by default. Apart from that, it has otherwise been a good drive and most importantly, durable. Got it on sale at a great price. I Use it in the car to play music which it does well. Also, remember that flash drives are transport media, not storage media.

Drive is 8GB full and I get bad write on CrystalDiskMark. Recommened the 128gb or higher versions, or the Kingston DataTraveler SE9 G3. Fast, large, portable—and cheap.
