Samsung Odyssey G3 24" FHD 165Hz Gaming Monitor

This monitor has extremely severe ghosting, more than any other VA panel I've used prior.
Cranking the overdrive settings helps minimally, but also reduces overall peak brightness.
The ghosting & motion blur is so poor on this panel, that after 30 minutes of use It was straining my eyes so much I had to stop.

Other users might not have the same issues, I bought this as a temporary use-case and I'm coming from a 240hz IPS display, but have used my fair share of VA panels before without issues like this. In saying that, for story driven games & less competitively focused games - this monitor would be just fine. The contrast is good, colors after slight tweaking are decent, as are the blacks. OSD Menu works fine and has enough features.

If you do purchase this monitor, calibrated settings are as follows:
Response Time - Fastest
Picture Mode - Custom
Brightness - 100
Contrast - 70
Color - 52R, 45G, 44B
Gamma - Mode1
Adjust Sharpness as desired.

Bought 2 of these in PBtech's 2023 Black Friday Sale, at a very good price. The stand easily attaches, but they have a plastic ring that clips on the back, (for appearances only), which is a little tricky to get into place. The stands motion is really good, adjustable height, and it can turn vertical. Note that if you use an HDMI cable, they max out at 144Hz. Using a Display Port cable, (and one is provided with the monitor), will give you the full 165Hz. My NVIDIA 4070 does detect the AMD FreeSync, (after you turn it on via the monitor's onscreen menu), so I assume that it's making use of it, but honestly, it's hard to tell. There is no guarantee that the FreeSync will work with an NVIDIA card though, so your experience might be different. Downsides - as it's a VA Panel, they do have the "washed out" look, and lack the vibrant colours of an IPS Panel monitor, however the tradeoff is that the contrast is very good, which provides a lot more detail in dark areas, good if your playing games with a lot of shadows or gloomy interiors. They are VERY bright by default, they have a "eye-saver" mode that I quickly enabled on the second screen, reading any webpage was hurting my eyes. They have a blue-power LED on the bottom that flashes when the monitor is in stand-by! I haven't found a way to disable this so I switch the monitors off when done for the day, which means bringing up the onscreen menu and picking "off" rather than just hitting a button. This is a minor thing, so I haven't deducted anything from the score.

An excellent display for the price range, seems to require a bit of tuning to minimize ghosting, but otherwise a sleek design and visual quality that suits both work and gaming. It is a very bright monitor, comes with the required display port cable which I did not know and saved me from almost buying a new one and the monitor performs really well. After around 3 weeks of use, there has been no flickering at all and the screen is still the same as new. Perfect for 165hz and it is pretty large as well. The monitor can swivel in any direction you would want so that is another plus.

Price immediately went down a day after my purchase. A bit frustrated regarding this situation but I'm still happy with my purchase of this wonderful monitor. 144hz using hdmi, or 165hz using DP cable, your choice. Love the adjustability of the stand too, perfect for an avid FPS gamer like me.
