It's like night and day: the connection always survives the PC sleeping, and it's always strong signal strength, and great throughout. Modern Wifi networking hardware is a real step up all round - and at a good price. Can't complain.

Didn't need anything flash... just had be capable of streaming videos from dining room to lounge as the ISP router signal kept buffering and losing sound. This TP-Link unit set itself up with one push of the WPS button and was not fussy about positioning. Ideal for the non-wireless savvy who just want a basic extender with simple setup.
