Bambu Lab P1S 3D Printer

I’ve owned a few 3D printers over the years, including the Ender 3, Anycubic, and a smaller budget model—and none have impressed me quite like this one. After a string of frustrating experiences (including a melted PLA mess on my Ender 3), I was ready for something more reliable. This printer delivered.

Fast, Smooth Delivery: Ordered from PB Tech at 4:00 PM and it arrived the next day to Lower Hutt from the Wellington store. That’s hard to beat.

Integrated Camera: A nice feature for remote checking, though not perfect (see below).
User-Friendly App: The mobile app enhances the experience, allowing for remote monitoring and controls.
Machine Assistant: Error notifications and guided fixes have been super helpful for a smoother printing process.
Fully Enclosed Design: A big bonus for print quality and safety.
Auto Bed Leveling: The nozzle adjusts rather than the bed, which removes the usual hassle of manual spacing and calibration. Wherever you place it, it just works.

What Could Be Better
Camera Quality: While it’s great for basic monitoring, the video resolution is poor. Don’t buy it for the camera—it’s more of a bonus than a core feature.
Noise Level: It’s quite loud—comparable to a vacuum cleaner. This is definitely something to be aware of if you’re planning to run prints in shared or quiet spaces.

Despite a few minor drawbacks, this printer is a fantastic upgrade. It’s reliable, intuitive, and packed with features that actually work. Highly recommended for anyone tired of working with temperamental machines.

This 3D printer was very easy to setup and immediately get started with my first 3D print. It's fast and gives really high quality results. Bought our first printer 14 years ago, but this thing is something else!
Easy setup out of the box, works as advertised and turning out some really nice prints with the default settings.
Looking forward to tweaking and fine tuning it.
Plenty of social media support and YouTube how-to videos if you are feeling your way for the first time.

Having had other brands like Creality. This Bambu Lab P1S was a real treat: better build quality, higher quality prints. more user friendly. and most of all no drama unlike some of the others. Just easy to set up and start using even without a pc as the app allows you to do everything.

Absolutely loving this 3d printer and been running it almost every day since buying it.
It's our first printer and we had never used one before, the setup was very easy and the Bambu app makes life less difficult with hundreds of ready to print designs waiting.

When we started 3D printing in January '24 and after lots of back and forth trying to decide which one would be better, we went with the "other brand".

That machine needed parts replaced under warranty within two weeks and has required constant repair/maintenance ever since.

We bought a second hand P1S about 6 months later which had been part of a printer farm, but after a couple of tweaks has been running great.

When the "other band" machine developed let another fault that wasn't fixable straight away, we bit the bullet and bought a shiny new P1S to replace it.

Imagine only ever have driven a manual car from the 70's with no power steering, windows that crank down easily enough, but you have to push up on the glass with them to go back up and no air conditioning. Now jump in a modern car. Automatic transition, power steering, cruise control and all the other modern conveniences. THAT's the difference between the two machines.

The AMS unit is fantastic. Even if not doing multi colour prints, just loading the filament is a breeze. I was running a print and the roll was getting low, but the machine simply switched over to the new roll I had sitting in the next slot, no user intervention required.

It can be a bit noisy at the start of a print as it self-calibrates, but overall, it's much quieter than the old machine.

As far as print quality goes, even when the old machine was tuned to the max, I never got results as clean as I'm getting now.

The online knowledge base for Bambu Lab is first rate with lots of helpful tips and instructions which is also a bonus.

The phone app is great. Easy to navigate and you can check on your print when you're out and about. The other band app fails to load the feed from the camera about 90% of the time, but the Bambu Lab app hasn't let me down once.

the only real downside we've come across since getting the secondhand machine last year is when the spool is getting low, it can get lifted out of place when feeding filament and cause a jam. I've printed a cylinder to sit inside the center of the spool and have approx. 200g of 10c coins in it which I just insert after a couple of prints and haven't had any issues since.

Long story short, if you're thinking about buy one of these, but not sure... just do it. You won't regret it.

The P1S is a great printer for mid range. I've had some experience with 3d printers before, this one is easy to setup and use. I love this printer as it truly is plug it in watch some tutorials and then hit print it’s fast and requires way less upkeep than my ender3 this is a great printer for those that are over tinkering and want something that just works straight outta the box!

The 3D Printer from PB Tech is excellent! The online ordering process was smooth and user-friendly, and my product arrived quickly and in perfect condition, just as described. I'm thrilled with the quality and value, and took a while to setup the printer but it was exciting to see the first printing done properly!. The P1S works exceptionally well and appears a good quality machine. A filter system is necessary to reduce the smell generated. It is best to use the camera to watch what is happening while it is operating. The P1S works exceptionally well and appears a good quality machine.
