We're renovating our house at the moment so I've run a couple of Cat6 cables to each room, and we've reached the point where I need to punch down both ends into keystones (one for the patch panel, the other for the wall jack).

I thought that I could get by with the cheap little yellow punch down tool, but unfortunately I didn't have a good solution to trim the excess wire off once they were punched into the keystone, so I bought this tool which cuts the excess while punching down.

I actually find in tight spaces where I don't have a lot of room to move that I still use the cheaper tool to do an initial push of the wire in because it's light and easy to hold, and then this tool - which is a bit heavier and a little more difficult to use in a confined space - to complete the job. Works great, I haven't had any issues so far.
