I followed the instructions. I tested that the unit gave out 12V. I then plugged in the appropriate tip for the molex extension cable for the ONT and plugged it into the ONT. It didn't work - no lights of any sort. I fiddled with it, no good. So I assumed that the molex connector had the voltage on the wrong pins. I swore at the Country of Manufacture.

A few days later, I decided to have another go. I measured the voltage and noted the pins on the original supply to the ONT. I then checked the molex cable. It was using the same pins, but the voltage varied freakily. A little more investigation revealed that the tip was not making...view more I followed the instructions. It was using the same pins, but the voltage varied freakily. A little more investigation revealed that the tip was not making through contact. Another swear at the country of manufacture. No quality control and no testing. I live half an hour away. I didn't want to waste petrol and time to return it, and I didn't want to take the internet down the third time (with a house full of teenagers chomping at the bit). So, I used another tip and made it work. It is working fine now, tested it with the mains power disconnected. Just have to hope that the quality inside is better and it will function when needed.

Normally the manufacturers use the cheapest rubbish battery. The advantage here is that the battery is replaceable. It is compact, plugs in easily and holds tight into a socket.

I have trialled the PBTech Powershield 12v UPS powerpack at my mothers' place to replace the recalled backup battery on the Spark wireless landline unit, which provides a derived phone landline. I am not impressed with the product overall in this roll as it contains only one 3.7volt lithium cell compared to the recalled battery with 3-4 cells. The backup time during a mains power failure will not be very long. It is good for very short mains fails and for brownouts (mains voltage drops) only.
The powershield UPS would be okay for smaller loads, like a switched router, separate from a Wi-Fi router. Fantastic mini UPS! I bought this as I needed some backup power supply to keep my network running in the event of a power outage, but needed a small form factor device as the space in my network cabinet is limited and not big enough to fit a full size UPS.

It is super simple to set up, and easy to use. Works exactly as advertised. Only thing I'll mention is that the runtime for a Chorus ONT is slightly less than as advertised. Advertisement states "Provides 150min runtime for Chorus ONT" - in my test, I got 108 minutes runtime for my Chorus ONT on this UPS.
